This is an antique glass half pint bottle from the Asheville, North Carolina famous Biltmore Dairy. This is a highly collectible and sought after milk bottle from 1948. It has the Biltmore crest on the back of the glass and the date on the bottom.
The era of Biltmore Farms milk began in Asheville, North Carolina in the 1890s. A young intellectual from New York named George Vanderbilt had traveled to the area by train and become so enraptured by the mountains he decided to build a home here.
Biltmore Estate historian Bill Alexander says Vanderbilt bought his first herd of dairy cattle in 1889. During the next several years, he imported Jersey cows — renowned for producing rich milk — from Vermont, and later from the Rockwell Park Stock Farm in Rowan County, one of the most respected breeders of high-quality Jerseys at the time.
In 1894, the dairy farm produced so much milk that it was far more than the estate needed, so Vanderbilt donated the surplus to local hospitals. Three years later, Biltmore Farms was bottling and delivering milk to homes around Asheville and to its first wholesale customer, the Battery Park Hotel.
A rare find indeed! In great condition.

This little vase is adorable and has some history to it! Is from a time when Biltmore had its own dairy. I love little receptacles with a story! Shop was very quick in sending and wrapped the item nicely and sent a pretty card too!
