Antique French Heavy 20 Kilog Cast Iron and Brass Scale

An excellent find! This is a rare antique heavy iron balance scale from the late 1800's. This scale was part of most any French or European kitchen or shop and was regularly used for weighing produce and ingredients. This was the heavy duty work horse and could measure anything up to 20 Kilograms or the equivalent to 44 pounds. The iron has been embossed with the words "Forge ~ 20 Kilog".
The scale has a pewter placard with the letters A C E mounted on the back and some other symbols. (see the last photo)
This scale is in excellent condition and has been cared for well. The brass trays have a lovely patina and the scale has brass details as well.
A rare find indeed!
